High School Experience

So far in high school I have had a very good experience as a freshman. There is a whole lot more freedom in the high school than in the middle school. The bad thing is that I don't get to see all of my friends because we don't have the same lunch period this year. Probably my favorite teacher this year is Mr. Reiff. He is my favorite because he is so funny in class. The worst thing in high school is probably that I have no classes with my closest friends. What I really like about high school is that we get to use our iPads in class so taking notes is much easier, some people us their iPads to play games but I only use it for work. At first when I came to the high school I was so nervous because I was thinking to myself OMG how am I supposed to ind all my classes around the school, but I felt that way about the middle school and now the middle school and the high school feel very small because I know how to get around. What I also like about the high school is that there are so many more clubs than the middle school so now I understand why my brother gets home so late. Maybe I should come home late like him.

Flood myths

The story of the Mesopotamian flood story is very similar to the flood story of Gilgamesh and Noah's ark like every other flood story. This story is saying how this person is chosen by the gods to build an ark and the gods will kill everyone else. These stories are different because instead of building a long ark the man Atra-hasism was chosen by the gods to build a round ark which is more believable because the dimensions of Noah's ark would not have survived the flood because the ark would've twisted and split in half during the flood. In the Mesopotamian version of the flood the ark has more of a dynamic shape and wouldn't have twisted during the flood because it is round. I have read an article about this and it was kind of interestiong but I don't really like to read this sort of article because I find non - fiction boring because nothing suspenseful can happen because it is regular day life.

God Characterization

From this lesson I have changed my prospective on God because it is showing me how mush God just doesn't care about the human race. In all of the flood stories God wipes out the entire human race because they hurt him from one little thing. From this lesson I have now gotten a fearful look at good because at any one moment God can destroy the entire world if one person does a little thing wrong. I am starting to lose faith in God and being fearful about him because he will wipe out and kill the entire world with no regret because he looks down at humans. When examining the characterization of God in the Old Testament it is denying my belief in God because it shows how he would kill flesh man in 1 second and wouldn't care at all because he has complete control over everyone and everything. This is denying my beliefs in God because I was taught that God is great not that God will kill everyone if he wants to and won't care. I am taught that God cares about each and everyone of us but in this lesson he doesn't care about anything only himself.

My Weekend Recap

Hey everyone so I have just finished up my weekend. I ate dinner and and I am typing this blog post. Experienced my first homecoming in high school.  I was working at the DECA stand. Homecoming was okay. It was a little boring because I could not see the game from where I was selling food and merchandise, but overall it was a good time because I was able to see my friends. My family has been doing renovations to the house and we recently got a new billiards table. I have been playing a lot and I think my skills have improved greatly since we have gotten it. I am very excited for tomorrow because I am doing a project in social studies and I get to work with my friends. On Saturday after homecoming I wine to my friends little sister's birthday party at pump it up. It was not my best experience there but it was fun. I think that I am starting to like this blog project a lot I am thinking about doing it during my entire school career. This is my second blog post for fun but it's a good concept for the students to express how they feel on the Internet. It also gives the students a voice on the web. That's all I really have to say for this post until next time... The Rosenthal Rant

In the beginning

I recently read the first 3 Genesis in the story of how the world was created and I would like to blame God for kicking Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden because he told Eve to not eat the apple from the tree of knowledge. If God didn't want Eve to eat the apple from the tree of knowledge than God should have put the tree of knowledge somewhere else or at least made Adam and Eve smart enough to not be persuaded to eat the apple. If God wanted to make Adam and Eve a replicant or similarity of himself then why did God put the tree of knowledge in the garden of Eden to tempt Eve to eat the apple? Why didn't God try and stop her from eating the apple? God wanted to test them to see if they are worth enough to follow directions so they can stay and not be punished, or maybe God just wanted to punish someone because he felt that it would be fun.

Ancient Flood Myths

The stories of the Flood in the epic of Gilgamesh and the Ancient Greek flooding myth my appear to be very different because they are from different cultures but in some people's perspective they are very similar. In "The Epic of Gilgamesh", Gilgamesh travels across oceans to find one man and his name is Utnapishtim. The reason that Gilgamesh wants to find Utnapishtim is because Utnapishtim is immortal and Gilgamesh wants to be immortal. The reason why Utnapishtim is immortal is because he was told by the gods to build a boat because he they were going to flood the entire Earth. So Utnapishtim takes his wife and builds a boat so the gods flood the entire Earth. The flood lasted for 6 days and 6 nights and when the flood stopped Utnapishtim sent out a bird and when it returned with a stick that meant that all of the water had gone away. In the Greek version of the flooding the gods warn a man named Deucalion and so he can take his wife Pyrrha onto the boat with him. The gods flood the world in the Greek version because the entire world has become corrupt except for Deucalion and Pyrrha. In "The Epic of Gilgamesh" the gods decide to flood the Earth because everyone is being to loud. So in many ways both of these stories are the same but also different.
